Dhamaal crew has created cutting edge music, video, art and events
that celebrate the cultural diversity of the Bay Area and beyond. This
pursuit has given birth to a number of projects that have inspired as
well as entertained audiences interested in traditional Indian music
renditions through to massive clubland shows at Club Six and 1015 Folsom.
Even Mayor Gavin Newsom weighed in last year by declaring
the opening night of the Festival - Dhamaal Sights & Sounds Day!

Dhamaal
and like minded crews as far-flung as Vancouver, San Diego, NYC, India
& the UK will unite under one umbrella to host a month long
selection of the best in global music, film and art. The Festival features
world music influenced shows in San Francisco, New York, Marin, Oakland,
San Diego, and Berkeley. Also this year Dhamaal is proud to co-present
all the South Asian films of the 24th Annual San Francisco International
Asian American Film Festival.

Living Legends G.S. Sachdev (bansuri flute) & Swapan Chaudhuri
(tabla) this is the Classical Showcase of the Festival paying homage

Over 5000 people are expected to attend the Festival,
which in the coming years is focused on becoming globally recognized
for mirroring the cultural diversity of the planet through music, dance
and art.
Dhamaal
continues its strong community involvement with funds from the Festival
being donated to Narika, a helpline for abused South Asian Women, the
Earthquake Relief Efforts in Asia and the Human Crisis in Darfur, Africa.
